Accessibility statement
This site is written for homeowners who are often in their sixties, seventies and eighties, and it is meant to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, magnification, a keyboard instead of a mouse, or voice control.
The standard I work to
I aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is a goal I check against, not a certification: no site of this size is perfect, and when something is found that falls short, I fix it.
What is in place
- Larger body text than most sites, and colors chosen for strong contrast.
- Every page, menu, form and calculator works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- Form fields have written labels, and errors are described in words, not just color.
- Images carry text descriptions, and charts are backed by tables with the same figures.
- Pages respect the “reduce motion” setting on your device.
- A call button stays on screen on phones, so a real person is always one tap away.
Known limitations
The downloadable PDF guides were designed for print and may not read well with every screen reader. If any guide, form or page is hard to use with the technology you rely on, tell me and I will send you the information in another format, or simply go through it with you on the phone.
